Scholarship and Community Service Committee History

!The Ascettes was founded by Carol Morgan, Allied Transmission in Bellingham in 1985, during the early years of ASC (Automotive Service Council – now called Northwest Auto Care Alliance).  The basic goal of the Ascettes was to provide an active participation program for the women who were attending the ASC events with their husbands.

During the next few years the Ascettes drew in women who were involved in the family automotive businesses, and in related businesses, and those who worked outside the automotive field, but who attended and supported the ASC events.  These women were interested in becoming an integral part of the association.

When ASC became Northwest Auto Care Alliance (ASA), the Ascettes group continued to grow and to provide a means of involvement for the women from fund raising to legislative support.  They attended unit meetings and quarterly state retreats and seminars on a regular basis. Ascettes is now known as the Scholarship and Community Service Committee.

The purpose of the Scholarship and Community Service Committee continues to be to support both the local NWACA chapter and the NWACA Regional Office encouraging educational opportunities for NWACA members and their families, and to help with raising funds when needed. Everyone is welcome to join the Scholarship and Community Service Committee.

The Scholarship and Community Service Committee group is a division of NWACA, in the same manner as mechanical, collision, and transmission. The Scholarship and Community Service Committee have been involved with on-going fund raising events to provide equipment for the state office, setting up an Scholarship and Community Service Committees scholarship fund.

Through one or more annual projects, the NWACA Scholarship and Community Service Committee is offering four scholarships in the amount of $1,000.00 each, to aid in assisting students who are entering, continuing, or completing their education above high school level. Scholarships will be awarded in the automotive field and in general education.
